Peppered Sirloin Steak

I find it hard to beat a succulent steak, whether it is simply seasoned and brushed with oil, or marinated as my recipe below
  • 4 sirloin steaks 8oz/225g each
  • 2 cloves of garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon crushed black peppercorns
Place steaks in a dish, add the garlic, sugar, Worcestershire sauce and olive oil. Make sure they are coated all over.  Leave to marinate in sauce for 2-3 hours. Remove the steaks from the dish and save the marinate.  Sprinkle peppercorns over the steaks and press them in firmly.  Cook on hot barbecue, basting occasionally with the marinate during cooking.  Turn the steaks once during cooking, and cook for 3-5 minutes each side depending on how rare you like them. Serve with jacket potato and mixed salad.
