This is a very easy and fun dish for children to make, and equally good to eat.
- 14oz (400g) tin tomatoes
- 1 onion peeled and chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 level tablespoon tomato puree
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon wine vinegar
- 7oz (200g) spaghetti
- Parmesan cheese
- Salt and ground black pepper
Heat the oil in a heavy based pan. Add the onions and fry for 5 minutes, or until soft.
Add the tomato puree, vinegar, sugar and salt and pepper. Cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes.
In another pan, cook the spaghetti in boiling water for approximately 10 minutes, until soft. Drain the spaghetti, and put it into bowls. Top with the tomato sauce and grated parmesan cheese.
